10th April - Footloose to the Southern Hebrides
For our first Footloose cruise of 2018 we sail south from Oban to Knapdale and enjoy walks on the scenic, unspoilt mainland, before exploring the varied landscapes of the southern Inner Isles.
Tuesday, 10th April.
After weighing anchor in Oban, we cruised the Sound of Kerrera on passage to our overnight anchorage in Craobh Haven.
Wednesday, 11th April.
This morning guests were tendered ashore at Craobh Haven Marina for a visit to Arduaine Gardens where signs of spring were on display.
After lunch on board the strollers explored some of the 800 ancient monuments at Kilmartin Glen whilst the Footloose walkers trekked from Craobh Marina to Ardfern marina where all guests re-joined the ship.
We anchored overnight in Loch Craignish.
Thursday, 12th April.
This morning we cruised into Loch Crinan where the strollers enjoyed strolls along the canal towpath. The walkers disembarked the ship for a full day walk with a packed lunch and re-joined the ship in Tayvallich in the afternoon.
After lunch on board, the strollers went ashore in Tayvallich for afternoon walks on the shores of Loch Sween and refreshments at the Tayvallich inn.
We anchored overnight in Loch na mile, Jura .
Friday, 13th April.
Today was spent on the Isle of Islay and guests landed at Port Ellen for a full day walk. Alternatively guests could opt to visit Bowmore distillery and Finlaggan, historic seat of the Lords of the Isles.
Our overnight anchorage was West Loch Tarbert, Jura.
Saturday, 14th April.
Our morning port of call was the Isle of Colonsay where guests explored the woodland gardens of Colonsay House or enjoyed a walk to Kiloran Bay.
A relaxing afternoon was spent on board as we sailed past Staffa on route to our overnight anchorage off the Isle of Ulva.
Sunday, 15th April.
Landing on the island of Ulva this morning a walk to Livingstones Cave allowed our Footloose walkers to stretch their legs.
During the afternoon we cruised the Treshnish Isles and Loch Sunart and anchored overnight in Tobermory bay.
Monday, 16th April.
The final island on this cruise was the Isle of Mull. The morning was spent in Tobermory for independent exploration and perhaps a little retail therapy, or a walk with our expereinced guides.
We sailed to Salen, Loch Sunart during lunch for final walks ashore ahead of the Farwell Gala Dinner which was held at anchor at Java point off Craignure.
Tuesday, 17th April.
An early morning sail into Oban preceded disembarkation at Northern Lighthouse Board pier where servicing and storing took place in preparation for welcoming our new arrivals this afternoon.
