19th September - Outlook on the Outer Isles

The Hebrides form a paradise of hundreds of islands and islets set like precious stones off the north west coast of Scotland, each astoundingly different.  Splendid in their isolation, timeless and surreal, their beauty is infinite, ever-changing with the day and season.

19th September 2017.

Once embarkation and the mandatory safety drill had been completed, we set sail for our overnight anchorage in Tobermory Bay.

20th September 2017.

This morning guests were tendered ashore to Tobermory for a visit to the Isle of Mull Cheese Farm to learn about the traditional methods employed there.

The afternoon was spent relaxing on board as we sailed the Sea of the Hebrides on passage to our overnight anchorage in Castlebay, Isle of Barra where a spectacular sunset was on display.

21st September 2017.

This morning we berthed alongside at Castlebay and guests enjoyed walks on the beach at Vatersay where the refreshment hamper made an appearance.

During lunch we sailed to Lochboisdale, South Uist where a coach transported guests to Eriskay for walks on Bonnie Prince Charlie's Beach. 

We anchored overnight in Loch Harport, Isle of Skye.

22nd September 2017.

This morning guests went ashore at Carbost, Skye, for an all day tour of the Trotternish Peninsula, which included a Seafood buffet lunch at the Flodigarry Hotel.

Hebridean Princess sailed for Uig, Isle of Skye, where the guests re-joined later in the afternoon.

We berthed alongside overnight in Stornoway, Lewis.

23rd September 2017.

This morning guests disembarked the ship in Stornoway for a visit to the Gearrannan Black House village and the Callanish Standing Stones. 

Following lunch on board there was the opportunity to tour the the Lews Castle Museum and have free time in Stornoway during the afternoon.

We remained alongside overnight in Stornoway and entertainment was provided by local band Patrona.

24th September 2017.

This morning was spent cruising The Minch and Inner Sound on passage to Kylr of Lochalsh where we berthed alongside for an afternoon visit to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.

We remained alongside overnight at Kyle of Lochalsh.

25th September 2017.

After a morning cruising Kyle Rhea and the Sound of Sleat, past the Small Isles and the west coast of Mull, we landed on the Isle of Ulva for afternoon walks.

Our final overnight anchorage was off Java Point, Isle of Mull.

26th September 2017.

We sailed into Oban this morning where disembarkation took place at Northern Lighthouse Board pier.
