23rd April - Footloose over the Little Minch

Our first Footloose cruise of 2019 takes us over the Little Minch to the Outer Isles of Barra and The Uists to reveal their rich diversity, beofre exploring the varied landscapes of Skye and the Inner Isles.  A varied itinerary of walks is interspersed with alternative visits for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.

Tuesday, 23rd April.

When all guests had embarked and the mandatory safety drill had taken place we departed from Oban on passage to our overnight anchorage in Ardmore Bay.

Wednesday, 24th April.

Sunrise in Ardmore Bay.

Our first port of call was the Isle of Ulva where guests enjoyed walks on the island.

Over lunch we cruised to the Isle of Coll for an afternoon walk or more gentle stroll on the island.

We anchored overnight off Port Langamull on the west coast of Mull. 

Thursday, 25th April.

After a relaxing morning cruising the Sea of the Hebrides we arrived in Castlebay, Isle of Barra for walks and strolls on Vatersay and a visit to Kisimul Castle, the medieval stronghold of the Clan Macneil which guards the entrance to the bay.

We anchored overnight off the Isle of Eriskay.

Friday, 26th April.

This morning guests went ashore at Lochboisdale, South Uist for either a full day walk or tour by coach of The Uists with a picnic lunch served ashore.

Hebridean Princess sailed Lochmaddy, North Uist where the guests re-joined the ship and we cruised to our overnight anchorage off Uig, Isle of Skye. 

Saturday, 27th April.

From Uig the walkers set off on a full day walk on the Quirang whilst the strollers enjoyed a tour of the Trotternish Peninsula with lunch at The Flodigarry Hotel and explored Portree during the afternoon.

Hebridean Princess sailed for Portree where the guests re-joined the ship before cruising to our overnight berth alongside in Kyle of Lochalsh. 

Sunday, 28th April.

Guests enjoyed free time this morning to go for local walks from Kyle of Lochalsh.

The afternoon was spent at Inverie for walks in Knoydart or strolls around the village and refreshments at The Old Forge Inn.


We anchored overnight in Loch Scresort, Isle of Rum. 

Monday, 29th April.

After breakfast guests were tendered ashore on the Isle of Rum for walks in the glen or to visit Kinloch Castle.

Our final port of call was Tobermory for walks and strolls, or a little souvenir shopping ahead of the Farewell Gala Dinner

We anchored overnight in Oban Bay. 

Tuesday, 30th April.

After breakfast disembarkation took place in Oban where we spent the day alongside at Northern Lighthouse Pier.
