29th October - Grandeur and Splendour of Argyll and Bute
Embark on a journey of architectural exploration as this cruise introduces us to a myriad of design styles and rare private viewings, often by a member of the family, including stately homes, baronial castles, prvate apartments and a neo-Gothic mansion.
Tuesday, 29th October
Embarkation took place at Greenock Ocean terminal and guests were piped on board.
Wednesday, 30th October.
After breakfast, guests travelled to Finlaystone House, seat of the current chief of the Clan MacMillan.
Over lunch we sailed to Rothesay, Isle of Bute for our afternoon visit to the Victorian neo-Gothic mansion of Mount Stuart House.
Thursday, 31st October
From Troon this morning guests travelled to Dumfries House and spent the full day there with lunch.
We remained alongside in Troon overnight.
Friday, 1st November.
During breakfast we cruised to the Isle of Arran and berthed alongside in Brodick for a morning visit to Brodick Castle and grounds.
We spent afternoon cruising Loch Fyne.
Saturday, 2nd November.
This morning we tendered guests ashore in Loch Fyne at Strachur where guests visited Strachur House, the home of Sir Charles and Lady McLean.
Once back on board, the guests made the most of the great weather and enjoyed pre-lunch drinks on the Skye deck.
Our afternoon visit was a private tour of Ardkinglas House which was completed in 1907 for Sir Andrew Noble.
We anchored overnight in Loch Shira.
Sunday, 3rd November.
This morning guests were tendered ashore at Crarae for a behind-the-scenes tour of Inveraray Castle private apartments and the public rooms.
We spent the afternoon cruising back down Loch Fyne, the north and west coasts of Bute, past Tighnabruaich and through the Kyles of Bute towards our overnight anchorage.
Monday, 4th November.
From our berth in Largs guests travelled to the hidden gem of Hunterston Castle. The 16th century tower house was the seat of Clan Hunter and replaced in 1799 by Hunterston House.
After lunch on board, our final visit was Ardgowan House which has been held by the Stewart family since the early 15th century.
The Farewell Gala was held at anchor off Greenock.
Tuesday, 5th November.
Captain Kirkwood, the officers and crew waved farewell to our disembarking guests in Greenock after breakfast.
