30th July - France, Belgium and the River Thames

Allow Hebridean Princess to transport you on a true voyage of discovery as we explore the delights of Brittany and for the first time, Belgium, culminating with a cruise along the mighty River Thames to Tower Bridge.

Monday, 30th July.

When all guests had embarked and the mandatory safety drill had taken place, we sailed overnight across the English Channel to anchor off the pilot station in Ouistreham.

Tuesday, 31st July.

Today was spent relaxing on board as we transited the River Orne from Ouistreham to Caen, passing the iconic Pegasus Bridge en route.

We berthed alongside in Caen overnight and the Welcome Gala reception was held on the Skye Deck.

Wednesday, 1st August.

Guests disembarked in Caen for a full day tour of the Bayeux Tapestry and a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral. After lunch ashore they continued to Honfleur for a walking tour including the cathedral. The ship sailed from Caen to Honfleur where guests re-joined.

We berthed alongside in Honfleur overnight.

Thursday, 2nd August.

This morning was spent cruising on passage towards Dieppe during which pre-lunch drinks were enjoyed on the Skye Deck.

 

 

We arrived and berthed alongside in Dieppe after lunch for an afternoon visit to the Notre Dame de Bon Secours, built on a cliff in memory of sailors lost at sea.

 

 

We remained alongside in Dieppe overnight.

 

Friday, 3rd August.

 

After spending the early morning cruising on passage towards Boulogne-Sur-Mer, where we arrived and berthed late morning, guests took a walking city tour of the city in the afternoon.

 

 

 

We had a plaque ceremony on board during our call at Boulogne-Sur-Mer as it is the vessel’s first time in port.

 

 

 

We sailed to Dunkirk where we berthed overnight.

 

Saturday, 4th August.

 

From Dunkirk guests visited the WWII Museum and the memorial and then embarked on a city drive to view the evacuation beaches, followed by free time in Dunkirk.

 

 

A plaque presentation took place on board in Dunkirk.

 

 

A leisurely afternoon was spent on board cruising on passage towards Belgium and we arrived and berthed alongside in Ostend where we remained overnight.

 

Sunday, 5th August.

 

Today guests enjoyed a full day tour of Bruges which included lunch ashore.

 

 

 

We remained in Ostend overnight.

 

Monday, 6th August.

 

Returning across the English Channel, the White Cliffs of Dover came into view ahead of our afternoon visit to Canterbury Cathedral.

 

 

We remained alongside in Dover overnight.

 

Tuesday, 7th August.

 

The final day of the cruise was spent cruising the south east coast of England, into the Thames Estuary and along the River Thames to London.

Wednesday, 8th August.

 

Guests disembarked this morning at the Tower Millennium Pier, London and we hope they have enjoyed this fascinating voyage to the continent and the heart of our great capital city.
