6th March - Firth of Clyde Explorer

As the green buds of spring pierce the silver veil of winter, explore some of the best-kept secrets of the unspoilt Argyll and Bute seaboard and the tiny island gem of Holy Isle.

Friday, 6th March.

When embarkation was complete we sailed south from Greenock and anchored overnight in Rothesay Bay off the Isle of Bute. 

Saturday, 7th March.

After an early morning sail to Largs, guests enjoyed a visit to the Palladian-style Ardgowan House and were given a guided tour by Sir Ludovic Shaw Stewart whose family have resided at Ardgowan since the early 15th century.

Our afternoon was spent exploring Hunterston Castle and Hunsterston House, seat of the Clan Hunter. 

After departing from Largs we anchored overnight in Rothesay Bay. 

Sunday, 8th March.

This morning guests were tendered ashore at Holy Isle for walks on the island.

During lunch we cruised to Campbeltown where we berthed alongside for the afternoon visit to the Torrisdale Estate which including a tasting of Torrisdale Gin. 

We remained alongside overnight in Campbeltown and local musicians Alex and Aaron Macalister provided after dinner entertainment in the Tiree Lounge. 

Monday, 9th March.

After a morning cruise  of Kilbrennan Sound on passage towards Holy Loch, guests were tendered ashore for an afternoon excursion to Historic Kilmun and the Argyll Mausoleum. 

The Farewell Gala dinner was held at our overnight berth alongside at Greenock Ocean Terminal.

Tuesday, 10th March.

Disembarkation took place after breakfast and we wish all our guests a safe onward journey.
