Outer Isles Odyssey

7 nights including 2 Gala Dinners

The breath-taking beauty of Scotland’s islands is beyond compare, shaped by sea and mountain, climate and beauty, heritage and culture.  Bathed in a luminosity of colour, that enhances every scene, the unspoilt Outer Isles are a virtually unknown paradise.

Steam the Sea of the Hebrides to experience a beach landing on one of the secluded Bishop’s Isles and stroll along the breathtakingly beautiful white-sand beaches of Vatersay, bordered by rich machair grasses.

On Eriskay, we discover where Bonnie Prince Charlie first stepped onto British soil, before coasting the magnificent seaboard of The Uists, travelling back in time to the stone circle of Pobull Fhinn and the ancient burial chamber at Barpa Langass.

A cruise of the Shiant Isles affords captivating views of the magical black basalt cliffs, home to an abundance of breeding seabirds.   A full day in Stornoway allows us to explore Lewis.  The standing stones at Callanish and well-preserved Carloway Broch stand testament to the island’s occupation since prehistoric times, whilst the museum at Lews Castle offers an insight into the history and culture of the Outer Isles.

A tour of neighbouring Harris includes the delights of Luskentyre beach.  From Loch Dunvegan, the MacLeod stronghold of Dunvegan Castle calls.  It has survived many conflicts and offers exhilarating boat trips to the resident seal colony.

Dubbed the ‘Garden of the Hebrides’, our final foray ashore is a stretch of legs on tranquil Canna, before we sail the Sound of Mull on passage to our home port of Oban.
